I do not have the smartphone compartment and I have is a single USB port in the console and a second in the glovebox. I ordered the smoking package and have a 12 V outlet in the "ashtray" and another in the passenger footwell. I do not have a 12 V outlet in the console and don't know if anyone does. Perhaps the addition of the outlet for the smoking package deletes an outlet in the console.

Haven't tried the one in the glovebox, but I highly doubt it would work for Carplay.

I have the phone compartment, which is in the armrest with the only connection (USB) to CarPlay. The phone compartment basically adds a cellular signal booster into the mix. I added it to my config because my intent is to use the car for recreational purposes only, in my case, HPDEs and driving mostly in rural areas with challenging cell phone connectivity. So you would maintain two USB connections. You also have a 12v power outlet in the passenger side console wall where you could add a couple more USB power connections with the appropriate adapter. So I think you are actually adding one USB connection. If you are using a thumb drive for your music, the car has the jukebox where you could transfer the sounds, and also two SD slots if you like to keep things on a memory device.
